At the four observatories, biobanks were established as scientific infrastructures dedicated to the systematic collection, processing, long-term preservation, and future distribution of marine biological samples. Specifically, size-fractionated filtered water samples were collected in technical replicates for subsequent omics analyses. Associated data, including sequences and metabolites, will be updated concurrently with the sample processing.
